The Humanist Union - "Humanistische Union" is Germany's oldest and largest civil liberties organisation. The "Ortsverband Marburg" (local branch Marburg) is its section for Northern and Middle Hesse.
Visual impairment, joy for life and adventurous spirit can not unite. Sabriye Tenberken did not let her handicap keep herself from combining these apparent contradictions in her own life. She will be awarded this year's "Marburg beacon for social citizenship rights" for her international engagement for people with visual impairment. The university city of Marburg and the Humanist Union award this annual prize.
